There was a time<\/em><\/strong> \u2026 before smart phones and the inter\u00adnet, before social media, \u201csmart\u201d TVs, apps, GPS track\u00ading, AI, or e\u2011anything. It was a time when music was played on cas\u00adsette tapes or vinyl records; CDs (com\u00adpact discs) were a brand-new inno\u00adva\u00adtion; and phone calls were made on push-but\u00adton or rotary-dial tele\u00adphones. It was a time in Amer\u00adi\u00adca when most house\u00adholds didn\u2019t have a com\u00adput\u00ader, when gaso\u00adline was under a dol\u00adlar per gal\u00adlon, and MTV was king.<\/span><\/p>\n

The time I\u2019m speak\u00ading of is the mid-1980s\u2014indisputably the great\u00adest peri\u00adod for young peo\u00adple in U.S. his\u00adto\u00adry.<\/span><\/p>\n
