A lit\u00adtle more than a year ago, I pub\u00adlished A Real Piece of Work<\/em> for the Kin\u00addle, not for a sec\u00adond antic\u00adi\u00adpat\u00ading the ter\u00adrif\u00adic suc\u00adcess the book would have.<\/p>\n

<\/a>In fact, when I pub\u00adlished it, my only hope was to sell 1,000 copies, at which time I would release the sec\u00adond nov\u00adel<\/a>, The Rich Are Dif\u00adfer\u00adent<\/em>. I thought it would take a year to sell that many copies. Instead, it took three months.<\/p>\n

This has been an incred\u00adi\u00adble year for me, and it\u2019s all been because of you read\u00aders. As my way of say\u00ading thanks (this is Thanks\u00adgiv\u00ading week, after all), I am mak\u00ading A Real Piece of Work<\/em><\/a> avail\u00adable for FREE<\/a> for one day only\u2014on Tues\u00adday, Novem\u00adber 20. Tell all of your friends.<\/p>\n

So, how has this been an incred\u00adi\u00adble year for me?<\/p>\n

Well, first, I sold thou\u00adsands<\/em> of copies of A Real Piece of Work<\/em>, not just the 1,000 I hoped for. Thank you for spread\u00ading the word about the book and for con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00ading to pub\u00adli\u00adcize it.<\/p>\n

The excel\u00adlent sales made it pos\u00adsi\u00adble for my wife and me to ful\u00adfill a dream I\u2019ve had for over 20 years: to go to Paris. I wrote about the two-week trip at length here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/a>The reviews of both books have been stel\u00adlar, with A Real Piece of Work<\/em> hav\u00ading just reached one hun\u00addred 5\u2011star reviews. Besides the prais\u00ading reviews by you, Dear Read\u00ader, there have been rav\u00ading pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal reviews, includ\u00ading ones by IndieRead\u00ader<\/a> and The Kin\u00addle Book Review<\/a>. I want to give a spe\u00adcial thanks to the two review\u00aders, Maya Fleis\u00adchmann and Rachel Abbott: your kind and gen\u00ader\u00adous reviews of the nov\u00adel real\u00adly helped. Thank you.<\/p>\n

There has also been some pub\u00adlic\u00adi\u00adty about me and my work, includ\u00ading news\u00adpa\u00adper arti\u00adcles<\/a> and a lengthy inter\u00adview<\/a>. Not to men\u00adtion some fun film footage<\/a> about my predilec\u00adtion for type\u00adwrit\u00aders by my best friend, doc\u00adu\u00admen\u00adtar\u00adi\u00adan Jason Scott.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been an incred\u00adi\u00adble year all around, and I\u2019m hop\u00ading that sales of both nov\u00adels will be strong through the hol\u00adi\u00addays. If you know any\u00adone trav\u00adel\u00ading who might want a good read, con\u00adsid\u00ader sug\u00adgest\u00ading A Real Piece of Work<\/em> or The Rich Are Dif\u00adfer\u00adent<\/em>.
