I\u2019m hop\u00ading that avid mys\u00adtery read\u00aders, reluc\u00adtant to pay full price for the first nov\u00adel in a series, will find the series more attrac\u00adtive if they can get the first nov\u00adel for a bar\u00adgain. Such is the plan.<\/p>\n

And as a char\u00adac\u00adter in one of my favorite films, The Edge<\/em> (writ\u00adten by David Mamet) says, \u201cA good plan today is bet\u00adter than a per\u00adfect plan tomor\u00adrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

This marketing\/promotion strat\u00ade\u00adgy worked for an author col\u00adleague in the sus\u00adpense genre, turn\u00ading her into a full-time best\u00adseller. Before that hap\u00adpened, she sold over 100,000 copies of the first nov\u00adel in her bur\u00adgeon\u00ading series (at 99\u00a2), so I\u2019m hop\u00ading this might have the same effect for me.<\/p>\n
